Mission Statement

After looking at my research, I have found that to attract the appropriate audience to buy a new spaper, it must contain certain features and aspects. I will create my newspaper to be 'ultra local' to specifically the Harrogate area.
This means that it will only include information relevant to Harrogate. The audience ranges from teenagers to the older generation, so as well as having information on local politics it must be family orientated too.
From my research I found that I should also include plenty of articles on human interest, and fewer on schools and politics.
The advertising ratio compared to articles is quite low, I found that generally on front pages there is only one advert, and on second pages possibly two.
The audience also expect the price of a local newspaper, (as my newspaper will not be free, this information was necessary), to be between 50p and £1. It should be published weekly in order for the audience to keep up to date with local events.

News Values

News values are the 'values' that determine what sort of audience will read the article, and initially what the article is about. I decided which articles I would write to include in my newspaper. Before writing them, I worked out the news values for each one, this will let me know which articles will be suitable for an ultra local newspaper. These are some of the main articles that I used, the audience, news values and whether or not I will include a photo.

Audience Research

I conducted this research in order to use the information I gained in creating a desirable newspaper. I will apply this information to my final product.
